5 Fantastic Houston Breweries You Have to Visit

November 20, 2016 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google+ Beer Guides

It’s no secret that the craft beer industry is sweeping the nation.  From coast to coast, farmlands to urban settings, Craft Breweries are popping up everywhere and they have been well received by the public.  Regulations and the easing of governing laws have made this awesome culture possible.  Each area brings its own unique twist to classic brews and every region has its own local flavor, both in the drink and in the ambiance, which often can be just as important.  One of the best cities to capitalize on this great American opportunity is Houston, Texas!  From the heart of downtown to the outer limits, Houston quickly emerged as one of the best places to stop for a Brewery crawl across America.  If you’re in the city of Houston, whether you’re a local born and raised, a transplant from another state, or just a passer byer, here are 5 breweries, you have to try!

1.11 Below Brewing

11-below2

6820 Bourgeois rd, Houston, Texas 77066

11 Below doesn’t come at you with an overwhelming spread of beers, rather they harness their energies into a handful of crafted and delicious stouts and IPA’s.  Color Blind Red IPA stands out as one of the best and anyone that has ever tried to brew an amber red, knows how difficult it can be to draw out those unique flavors you’re going for.  Anyone adventurous enough to go for those reds, knows it can sometimes go unrewarded.  Well, worry not with 11 Below Brewing’s Color Blind Red IPA! There is plenty of that zesty citrus smell, Pine and a hint of Caramel to polish it off.  Another great option is the popular 7-iron.   It’s easy to see why its called the 7-iron too.  In golf, its often the most popular club in the bag and in craft beers, it is also a fan favorite.

5. B 52 Brewing Co.

b52

12470 Milroy Ln, Conroe, Texas 77304

Located in Conroe, Texas, 45 minutes north of Houston, this brewery is owned by the Daniel’s family and opened in 2013.  It is named for their love of the WWII bomber. This wooded location is great for an afternoon hangout with beer, food and a great atmosphere. At this location you’ll get a branded B-52 half-pint glass and several beer pours of your choice including beers with such great names as Payload Pilsner, Wingman Wheat IPA and Breakfast Stout.  Those are just the classics, they also come at you with seasonals and a list of sour beers.  The beer is great but the setting of this place really speaks to what craft brewing is all about.  Surrounded by tall trees, which shade the gaming area and open air pavilion with outside bar which certainly adds something special your drink that day..

Open:  Friday 4pm-10pm, Saturday 12pm-10pm and Sunday 12pm-7pm

Rating:4.7/5

Nоtе: I рrеttу much lоvе all thеіr brеwѕ. They аrе unіquе and wіld.  You won’t find a better backdrop to drink a freshly crafted brew than the Pavilion at B-52.

These 5 don’t begin to scrape the surface of all the great breweries that call Houston home, be sure look up these 5 and many more if you’re in the Lone Star State. Could have expanded this a bit! Eureka Heights? 8th Wonder? 8th Wonder is well established and Eureka Heights is the new kid on the block with some excellent brews, all of which are very “sessionable”. Sad we can no longer include Karbach, since they went to the dark side….. (but hopefully, they will be allowed to continue to brew their excellent seasonal bombers without interference!
